Lyophilization

يُعرف أيضًا باسم: Freeze-drying

Lyophilization is a freeze-drying process that removes water from a peptide, leaving a stable dry powder that resists hydrolysis and degradation during storage.

Lyophilization proceeds in stages: the peptide solution is first frozen, then held under vacuum so the ice sublimes directly from solid to vapor (primary drying), and a final secondary-drying step removes residual bound water. The result is a dry, porous cake or powder.

Removing water sharply slows hydrolysis and other moisture-dependent degradation reactions, which is why research peptides are typically supplied in lyophilized form for long-term storage stability. The dried material is dissolved in a suitable solvent such as bacteriostatic water through reconstitution immediately before laboratory use.
