Growth Hormone Secretagogue

يُعرف أيضًا باسم: GHRP, secretagogue

A growth hormone secretagogue is a compound that stimulates growth-hormone release by acting on the GH secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a), distinct from GHRH-receptor agonists.

Growth hormone secretagogues are synthetic ghrelin mimetics that bind GHSR-1a on pituitary somatotroph cells. Unlike GHRH-receptor agonists, which signal through Gs and cyclic AMP, the GHSR couples mainly to Gq, triggering phospholipase C, IP3, and intracellular calcium release as its output.

Examples characterized in receptor-pharmacology research include ipamorelin, noted in preclinical work for its selectivity, together with the earlier peptides GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. Because the GHSR and GHRH-receptor pathways are mechanistically distinct, the two classes are frequently examined side by side in studies of growth-hormone-axis regulation.
