The GIP receptor (GIPR) is a class B G protein-coupled receptor for glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide that signals through the Gs/cAMP pathway. It is the second canonical incretin receptor.
Like GLP-1R, GIPR couples to Gs and raises intracellular cAMP on activation, driving PKA and Epac signaling in cell models. It is a shared target of dual and triple incretin-receptor agonists studied in receptor-pharmacology assays.
In vitro, an imbalanced dual-agonist profile at GIPR — behaving much like the native GIP peptide — is one feature researchers characterize across incretin-class research peptides.
